Introduction to Thermowood

Le Lumber Joint Stock Company is one of the pioneering companies in importing American wood since 2003 and sawing and drying various round woods from the United States since 2005. With over 20 years of experience in the field of imported wood sawing and drying, the company has achieved significant milestones.

Thermowood, also known as Modified Wood, is a new technological process that Le Lumber imported in 2023. This Thermowood product meets European standards: EN-14915:2013, Thermo-S and Thermo-D. Importantly, it does not involve the use of chemicals or formaldehyde.

The benefits of wood modification technology include:

  1. Enhanced Value: We transform softwood into hardwood, increasing the overall value of the product.
  2. Remedying Wood Flaws: Thermally treated wood is resistant to mold, termites, and warping. This enhances durability and aesthetics.
  3. Extended Lifespan: Modified wood can be used for longer periods compared to regular wood.
  4. Improved Water Resistance: Thermally modified wood has better water and moisture resistance, making it suitable for outdoor use.

The process of wood modification operates as follows: Wood is treated under high pressure and temperature, combined with steam. The temperature during this controlled process ranges from 165°C to 225°C, depending on the wood type.

After thermal treatment, resin within the wood dissipates, eliminating common wood issues like mold, termites, and warping. Modified wood exhibits higher durability and richer color compared to its original state.

Notably, softwoods such as Pine, Fir, Oak, Rubberwood, and Acacia, when thermally modified, can withstand outdoor conditions, including sun and rain.

We supply modified wood and offer custom thermal modification services based on customer requirements.
